Lourdes Valentin & Anthony Corrado - Entertainers

Lulu (Lourdes) Valentin & Anthony Corrado make beautiful music together.  This song stylist who possesses a lush melodic voice sings the gamut from Gershwin, Broadway, pop, jazz, Latin, to R & B while her partner plays a hauntingly beautiful saxophone and flute as accompaniment.  Lulu is of Puerto Rican descent, Anthony Italian from a musical family both born in NYC.  They perform at YGFM for the season and love has bloomed for these former business partners who met last year.  They are slated to be married in March 2011.  As Lulu puts it "she fell in love with her better half."  She has a wonderful philosophy of what she aims to do in a performance; singing to her "is the art of telling a story that will change a soul forever."  This talented duo are both working on individual special projects; Lulu's is Blue Orchid which is a global/world music vision while Anthony is front man for a super funky jazz band.

BIG' UMM...S - Ellis & Charla Moore

The 'Big Easy's loss has been South Florida's gain.  Married for 8 years the Moore family came to Miami a year before Hurricane Katrina hit and devastated their hometown of Louisiana.  They'd found themselves craving the multi-cultural essentials of their region such as gumbo file which was impossible to find here.  Yearning mightily for Muffuletta they even created their own version with sourdough bread from BJ's marketplace to which they added homemade olive salad, provolone, Genoa salami and ham.  All this deprivation gave rise to their double booth mission which is to bring the "flavor of Louisiana here."  On one side specialty gift bags (no two alike) and home-made 3 in 1 pastry line of gourmet cakes, tarts and cookies called "Angel's Delights" chock full of pecans, chocolate chips, coconut or fudge-like fillings.  Also offered squares of LA praline candy incorporating Florida key lime.  Not to be missed is a colossal cookie The Big Ask cookie; a polite way to say this thing is huge.  The other side will eventually house hot down-home Cajun/Creole staples such as Crawfish Etouffe, Gumbo and Jambalaya made with a choice of meat, vegetable or seafood.  The most important ingredient which gave rise to their stand's name is "all cooked and prepared with lots of LUV - Big on Flavor, Big on Taste."  Once hard to find items are now carried by purveyors; some in Yellow Green Farmer's Market and the Moores rejoice knowing that they and others are a testament to their hometown's resilience and rich culinary legacy.

Hot Mama's - Tobey Glickman

The temperature's rising in Hollywood and Tobey Glickman is behind it all.  This proprietor who has been in the restaurant business for many years opened up shop with Yellow Green Farmer's market recently.  Her admittedly hot and piquant dry rubs which include City Rib Rub and Tandoori are the culmination of years of recipes.  Spicy panko bread crumbs bear her stated mission "Heating up Hollywood" printed right on the label.  A stand out item is Cowboy Candy: an all natural product primarily composed of a pepper sugar reduction it is a great tailgate treat put over cream cheese or brie.  The same goes for the salsas which come in hot, mild or peach. Acting as a distributor for another friend's product she has supplied the restrooms of YGFM with complimentary tubs of a natural salt rub Secret of the Islands touted as a remedy created by fisherman to alleviate rough hands and remove bad odors.  Visit her booth and bear witness to the heat.

Mi Casa Su Casa Hammocks - Edna Koehl

A bit of the Brazilian carefree spirit has been brought direct to our shores and Yellow Green Farmer's Market is the timely recipient.  These sturdy gaily colored hammocks hail from the Brazilian city of Patrocinio west of Rio.  They are the ultimate eco-friendly relaxation apparatus.  Traditionally hand crafted by native Indians out of cotton, fishnet or coconut threads they are ideal for modifying small sleeping areas; remaining handy and hygienic so in the morning can be folded and put away. Adaptable with myriad and fascinating uses.  In fact in Brazil they are used for dolphin rescue.  Unfurled they are spread out underneath the injured mammal and gently gathered onto shore.  Conversely they are fishing implements serving as nets.  Strong and durable the large ones can hold a person up to 400 Lbs.  This is Edna's first venue to introduce to America; her family has been selling in Brazil for many years.  She offers customization and depending on the style can have it done in one week or one month.  In her country they offer protection from insects, small forest animals and snakes; now your special hammock can be the fast track to a day of leisure.

Lana - Artist Sara Molano

Lana Chicken

L'Disco

Beach Cat "Moon Shadow"

Elysa - Happy Customer

Sara Molano's lithe form waits patiently while her vivid green eyes lined in blue/green Mac eyeshadow and radiant smile beckon you into her booth.  A treasure trove of handmade flourishing artwork awaits.  Working in acrylic paint her hallmark pieces are mother-earth type goddesses who expose half their face along with one breast.  Their style has expressionistic undertones.  L'Humanite represents the artist's own view of  "half beings" or those whose knowledge of self is only surface.  She takes a detour with eco-friendly natural fiber felt wool creations;  pocket books adorned with felt flower petals, pill box hats, kid's bags with felt finger puppets, hair accessories, necklaces and felt decorations for baby's room.  In fact YG Farmer's Market is first time she has taken all her felt creations out of the closet and displayed.  She's been encouraging customer feed back which has been good.  Taught by her grandmother as far as Sara knows she is the only artist working in this medium.  Life-style art is depicted in L'Disco - a painting edged in beer bottle caps: dedicated to the girl who goes out partying.  Her handiwork "Lana Chicken" got a celebrity boost when she was in NY for Fashion Week 2010.  Someone saw her on the street with the bag and invited her to a VIP QVC home shopping network party at Madison Square Garden where her show chicken was passed around by the likes of Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian.  Quite a journey for this talented artist born in Columbia and raised in "Chi-Chi-Chi, le-le-le - Viva Chile!"
